The lyrics of my life

Music is, and always has been, an important aspect of my life. Many musical artists/groups are very important to me, but one group stands taller than the rest. This group is the Beatles, and every single one of their songs means something special to me, but Across THe Universe and Julia have lines that mean the world to me.
                                Lines from Across The Universe

"Pools of sorrow waves of joy
Are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me"

These lines from the first verse are incredibly beautiful to me.  I can relate to these words cause ever sinse I was very little, I've been rather open minded and extremely sensitive, and I'm an impulsive person who does things based off of my feelings.  So I continually have pools of sorrow and waves of joy, drifting through my open mind, possessing and caressing me.  Whatever I may be feeling at any given time, completely controls every move that I make, my feelings possess me.  They also affect me on such a deep level, they caress my very beign.

"Sounds of laughter, shades of life
Are ringing through my opened ears
Inciting and inviting me.
Limitless undying love, which
Shines around me like a million suns"

These lines from the third verse are once again, incredibly beautiful to me.  I like them because they describe life's most beautiful things in such a beautiful way.  Everybody laughs a different way, and you can tell a lot about people based off of the way they laugh.  So the different sounds of laughter, are the different shades of life.  Inciting and inviting me, hearing a person laugh makes you feel more comfortable around them.  Limitless undying love, is something beautiful that makes you happy.  It's something as beautiful and bright as the sun.  So, someone's limitless undying love does shine around you like a million suns.

"Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world"

Throughout the song inbetween the verses, they chant "nothings gonna change my world", which is something reassuring to me.  Cause sometimes i get very afraid that something will drastically change my world, and I won't like the out comes of these changes.  So, after hearing happiness and sadness described, hearing "nothings gonna change my world", means a lot to me. It puts things in perspective for me, those words remind me that even if a love with somebody special to me is huge and great, or a heart break is ground shattering and depressing, it won't change my world. Not really, which makes me feel better no matter what.

                                                                Lines from Julia

"Half of what I say is meaningless
But I say it just to reach you"

The opening lines of this song, are in my opinion, some of the best words ever spoken. Because even if John's words are meaningless, they still need to be heard.  I really like this idea because sometimes I don't say things, because I fear that the person im saying them to, will find my words meaningless and empty. But even if I'm afraid of them not liking my words or finding my words empty and meaningless, I want my words to be heard.  So my words are meaningless, but I'll say them just to reach you.

"When I cannot sing my heart
I can only speak my mind"

I love these lines with all my heart.  Because this is how I am. I can't filter myself with some things, and I just need to get things out.  So having John Lennon sing these words to me, makes me feel like I can relate and just makes me feel happy.

  1. Those are two of my favorite Beatles songs, too! Have you ever heard the Fiona Apple Version of Across the Universe? She's one of my favorite artists, but I also really like both versions of the song.

I think it's so interesting that you don't risk saying something because you fear that the other person will find it meaningless. I think many people feel that way, but it is especially confounding when the other person is someone who means a lot to us. It's like they're supposed to understand, and if it doesn't mean anything to them it feels really crumby.

Anywho...great song choices! I think the Beatles will live on for many more generations to come, and I'm really glad that you like them, too. :)
