Shooting Of Trayvon Martin

The shooting of Trayvon Martin has taken a strong hold on a lot of people lives. This means young childern, teenagers, young adults, and older people. He was killed on February 26, 2012 but it didn't get out until a mouth later. He was a seventeen year old male who was talking on the phone with his girlfriend, and walking down the street when George Zimmerman started to follow him. Zimmerman called the plice to tell them that he saw a young man who looked as if he was up to no good, but the police told him that they didn't need him to follow young Trayvon. He did so anyway then that's when things began to happen. Trayvon was unarmed, and his girlfried told the police that Zimmerman was following he said that he was going to put his hood on and he was going to walk faster. She says that she told him to ran but he told her that he wasn't going to ran. She then say that he was pushed because she heard the phone drop. A woman then called the police to say that there was a voice out side yelling for help but she was to scared to open the door and see what was going on. While on the phone with the police you could hear everything going on in the background, and little did Zimmerman know she was still on the phone with the police after the shooting. Trayvon was found face down and shot in the chest with his hands under his body. When the police arrived Zimmerman told them that he was attacked by Trayvon and he did what he had to do to stay alive. He told the police that he broke his nose and had a wound in the back of his head. The police took him into custody and after a few hours of questioning they let him go. They said that they didn't have anything to hold him on and he wasn't charged. The police didn't tell Trayvon Martin's father until the next day of his killing even though they had his phone in their hands. Zimmerman walked around for 44 days before he was charged of second degree murder. Even after all the evidence they had to arrest Zimmerman they didn't and in that time the FBI took over the case because the Florida police couldn't handle the case like they were suppose to. There are a lot of feelings that I have when it comes to this case but I feel as if personal feelings should be sent aside so that Trayvon Martin gets justice and that George Zimmerman is locked away for the rest of his life.

  1. Hey Nae! This is a great post and informative of some of the important pieces surrounding this case. I wonder what you mean about setting aside personal feelings...I think it is okay to have personal feelings about this. I mean that to say that you must have had a reaction to this and I think it's okay to say how it affected you personally. I think it will be different for all of us. For instance, I am really angry that this happened. I don't think that police should have the right to shoot anyone, let alone a child/youth who is unarmed. I find myself saddened when I think about how Trayvon won't become an upstanding citizen/man in society. I am irritated with the media not giving this enough attention or the right attention. So I think it's fair to feel a certain way about this. I appreciate your professional approach to this, but I also don't think you need to hold back about how this case make you feel. Let it out! :)

  2. I mean if everyone puts their personal feelings into the case than the right justice won't be done because of the fact that everyone is hurt and find this to be a race problem. Everything as a place ad a time, but I feel that sould be handle out side of te count room because of the fact that Zimmerman is a human that made mistakes like us all, but he still should have a fair trail no matter what he did. It's only fair because tha is the law. Personal feelings make the goal get pushd to th side and I feel as if that's the onl thing people should look forward to. I also think that this case ashad a lot of media action now I am upset with the timing it took to get out, but you have to see that a large change is coming to american een though that might taking a life out of it. Sad to say but things have to change. Trayvon Martin made achange from the grave little do people see.
