~Media's impact on Eating Disorders among teen girls~
My major blog post is going to be about the media's impact on teen eating disorders. My point of view on this topic, is that the media is probably one of, if not, the biggest reason girls develop eating disorders. The way that media has a huge impact, is how they portray females. Even if a girl doesn't think she's affected by the girls they see in magazines and music videos, she actually is in the back of her mind. And she begins to have subliminal self doubt and the media lowers her self esteem, usually it's because shes not a perfect size 0. The more and more women that the girl will see portrayed by the media, the more desperate she'll become to look like them, leading to the development of eating disorders. I chose this topic because it's very relevant to today. There are more magazines, movies, music videos, television shows, etc., than ever, and there are of course also more girls with eating disorders than ever. So many people have an eating disorder, know someone with an eating disorder, or are on the way to developing an eating disorder. So I feel like people should know the negative impact that the media is having on girls all over the world, so that people can try to make a change.

I'm glad someone is addressing this topic. Sometimes I feel like it isn't challenged enough. You mentioned "there are more girls with eating disorders than ever" - do you have a statistic back that up?
